Please join us as Union College hosts the 5th Symposium on Engineering and Liberal Education this spring from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 June 2012 on our beautiful campus in Schenectady, New York.
Our theme this year will be: finding new and innovative ways of allowing engineering professors to teach liberal education courses, and allowing liberal education professors to teach technical courses, within the practical resource constraints of educational institutions.
The symposium will open Friday evening with on-site registration and an informal reception, followed by a welcome by the 18th President of Union College, Dr. Stephen C. Ainlay, a keynote address by Dr. Charles M. Vest, President of the National Academy of Engineering and President Emeritus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and dinner. Saturday will open with breakfast and consist of a full day of presentations and workshops with lunch in the middle and ending with dinner. Sunday will close the symposium with breakfast and a half day of presentations.
